[This post was imported on 4/10/14 from my old blog at satsumabug.livejournal.com. I don’t remember a whole lot from the Writing and Illustrating Picture Books class I was taking that fall, but this post reminds me that it’s thanks to that class and that instructor, Barney Saltzberg, that I started carrying a sketchbook around and using it. Barney, my infinite gratitude.]
looks yummy! did you use markers?
-bright
Hi Bright! I used pens and brush pens. I don’t know if you would call them markers. But I’m quite the pen addict. π
what a cool sketch! I’m glad to see you are enjoying your drawing class.
That’s funny about the cake rampage. I hope the gingerbread with frosting turns out great and satisfies your craving. I empathize with your situation entirely. When I went to the Alcove a couple of weeks ago, I stared at the cake display, but it was after yoga class so I felt too guilty about getting some. It looked so tempting!
But in the future if you ever want to indulge your cake craving let me know! I’m usually in the mood for some good baked goods =)
Love,
Margaret
Hi Margaret!
Yes, I am VERY much enjoying the class. I’ve never taken a grown-up art class before so it just tickles me pink to get assignments like “Fill a page with sketches from your childhood” (which is this week’s homework). It’s a part of my brain that doesn’t get used as often anymore, so I love that I get to tap into it.
This was my third time at Alcove and each time I’ve drooled over the desserts and refrained from getting any. NEXT TIME!!!!!!! And you and I can go together, after yoga or not. π
*hugs*
Me Too!
Lisa-
I loved this sketch, in fact I want it to hang in my office. It is so happy! Good seeing you yesterday, I will write later this week when things settle down. I am glad you are enjoying your art class and that it makes you as happy as your sketch made me. π
Re: Me Too!
Oh, yes forgot to sign off.

Re: Me Too!
I knew it was you. π
Re: Me Too!
Aww, thank you. π It was good to see you too, made my day a little happier. π As for hanging the sketch in your office, I am considering doing more sketches of various subjects for this year’s Christmas presents!
