Did you miss my post on The Toast?
I am behind on everything at the moment, or at least it feels like I am, which as far as mood goes is essentially the same thing. By way of catch-up I present to you three weeks of life drawings.
First, the limber and dancerly Jenny. I had drawn her before, five years (!) ago.
Two-minute gesture poses
(This last grouping makes me so happy.)
Five-minute poses
Two attempts at the same pose
My favorite from the evening. 20 minutes and I tried to get a little of the pattern from her skirt (which she was obviously not wearing at the moment).
Another 20.
Last pose of the evening.
The elegant and dramatic Terry.
1-minute gesture poses
10-minute poses
20-minute poses
two more 20-minute poses
And Alex, whom I have also drawn before. I find him a particularly energizing presence.
Before he showed up, our instructor, Suzanne, modeled for us briefly. IÂ had a surprisingly hard time drawing someone in clothes. But then, the first poses of a session always are the hardest, anyway.
2-minute gestures
5-minute poses (I love that center one)
10-minute poses
a 20-minute pose and maybe my favorite drawing of the evening though it does not look especially like him
40-minute pose; for the chaise I tried working wet-on-wet after a suggestion from a classmate
last pose of the evening
Love these. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, FinickyFeet!
I love the figure drawings. They are very fun and animated.
Thank you, Shelley! I’m glad you feel they captured some life and spirit. 🙂
[…] in the past, they’ve also been some of my happiest, most centered, and most deeply focused hours as an artist. (Go figure.) I missed that feeling of freedom and creation, but weeknight […]
