I love them. I’d gotten used to them when I was an undergrad at Berkeley, and then we moved to LA for five years. When I came back we drove up to the East Bay and I suddenly got hit with the splendor all over again. The sky doesn’t quite look the same across the bay or even in the South Bay where I grew up.
Thank you, Sherry! I haven’t tried to paint the poppy or any of my garden plants, and I don’t know why. Erik suggested it too, after seeing this post. Maybe next week! The color-lover in me certainly does itch to try my hand at recreating the poppies’ subtleties. ๐
Crazy clouds today, huh? The kind they call “Jesus” clouds– you look up there and expect to see a bunch of fat cherubs and fairies bouncing around.

The California Poppy looks fantastic. Nice shots – very colourful.
Thank you, Alan! I do love those poppies. ๐
Love your pictures — and the garden tour. The Calilfornia Poppy is gorgeous. What an amazing color! Have you tried to paint it?

Gorgeous photos! And I agree with Sherry and Erik–I think that poppy wants to be painted. ๐
๐ I’m going to try for it sometime this week!
