Yoga-toting my way out of a funk

Woke up this morning still feeling tired and a little glum, so I made myself pancakes and did my morning pages. I really can’t recommend the Pages highly enough to everyone, whether you’re an artist or not. If you do them every day, even when you don’t feel like it — no, especially when you don’t feel like it — they will guide you through anything. Today they helped me figure out that I needed to put in some dedicated crafting time for the shop. I guess it’s really been weighing on me that I’m so behind in my business duties. So I made two new yoga totes, and they took me from about 10 AM to 6 PM, with breaks. Now you know why handmade costs so much. ;b

I’ve been thinking I should name my mat totes after yoga poses, but this colorful tote just shouts “Brazilian beach” to me. So I’ve called it Praia, which means beach in Portuguese. (I looked for an exuberant heart opening pose to name it after, but all such poses had really long Sanskrit names!) I couldn’t help but feel sunnier after working with these brilliant fabrics for so many hours!

I’ve mostly run out of big pieces of fabric, so this time I made the bags’ exteriors from two different fabrics. It was a little tough to match them, but I’m happy with how they came out. I think they have more character this way.

This tote is fun — it’s got a stunning giant blue flower on the top (I’ve been saving that fabric!!), stormy roses on the bottom, and a beautiful delicate rose-printed linen on the inside. There’s something kind of forest-wild about it, yet it’s also soft and sweet. Love it.

I’ll list these in the shop once I get some more photos taken, which may not be until next week. But I’ll try to get to them over the weekend if I can.
