Owchies

I went running this morning for the first time in a long time. I can do an hour and a half of yoga, but fifteen minutes of running just kills me. Needless to say, endurance has never been my strong point. But there is improvement, and I’m grateful for that, because it gives me the motivation I need to keep running–at least more often than once a semester.

The last time I went running was I believe during winter break. I ran for about the same amount of time as this time, but it hurt terribly. When I finally stopped, I coughed and spit and had to sit for a long time before I even felt well enough to walk back home again. It was the most awful feeling. This time, I still got that feeling, but only for a moment when I stopped, and I think it’s probably because I pushed myself a little too hard toward the end. But while I was running, it actually felt good at points. I got into my stride, even if only for about ten seconds each time. ;b My legs must be stronger, because they didn’t itch like they normally do when I run (nobody else seems to get this, but people who have run with me probably remember me complaining about it), and yoga has helped my breathing enough that I was able to breathe rhythmically and consistently the whole time, even when I got tired. So if I keep this up, doing a little more each time, it’ll be good for my heart, even if I never get past one mile. 😀 Yay! I went running!

Oh and by the way, if you are like me and always in the market for a new sunblock, try Neutrogena’s new Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. It really does do what it promises, mostly–it doesn’t leave your skin with that telltale greasiness that just screams “I’m either really really sweaty or I’m wearing sunblock!” It’s a little powdery feeling, if anything, but I’d rather be powdery than greasy. At $10 for a measly three ounces, it is not cheap, but I have always been willing to pay for sunscreens; I burn so easily I need to wear sunblock every day during the summer if I’m going out at all, and I hate looking like a greaseball all summer long.

Mommy just came home and brought back baked pita chips, so I am going to make guacamole. 🙂

    yay that’s awesome lisa! it sounds like you had a really good run, especially for it being the first time in awhile. =) if you keep it up, i swear it gets easier and feels better every time…well except for like…the second and third time you go running. but yeah, you inspired me to go running today, so thank you. =)
