Part of me likes the scratchy, loose, drafty feel of this piece; part of me thinks it’s sloppy and there’s no excuse for falling back on arrows to indicate order of text. Anyway, this is it; the five posts from this week constitute my artist statement, and can now be found linked together as such in the top menu of this website (direct link).
I have some additional thoughts to share — namely, some exercises and regular practices that help with my creative mission — but I will leave them until Monday. Happy weekend, and see you then!
This is lovely, Lisa.
Thank you so much, Xixi! It gives me great satisfaction to render these thoughts into text and color and form. 🙂
I read all 5 in quick succession and they do hng together rather well, I think. It reads like a personal manifesto too. The sort of thing I would print onto a card and keep in my wallet for those moments of doubt. Well done, Lisa. I might try something like this myself.
Thank you much, Alan! Yes — it feels like my personal manifesto, and the great thing is, after spending so much time on it, I’ve got it well memorized and imprinted into my perspective. 🙂 (That’s one fewer card to carry in my wallet!) I’d love to see your version if you ever do one.
