Today in yoga, Linda talked to us all class long about this documentary she’d seen about blind kids in Tibet. We had a good class (headstands and handstands!), and then we did our savasana as usual and finished sitting up. Normally we end with OM but this time Linda said, “The kids in this film were singing all the time, and most of the songs were in Tibetan, except for this one. They closed the movie with this song so I thought we’d do the same.” Then she began singing:
Imagine me and you I do
[at this point most of us figured out what she was singing, and joined in]
I think about you every night
It’s only right
To think about the girl you love
And hold her tight
So happy togetherIf I should call you up invest a dime
And you say you belong to me
And ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be
So very fine
So happy together[at this point everyone who hadn’t known the other words chimed in gleefully for the chorus; one girl sang “la la la” for the whole thing]
I can see me lovin’ nobody but you
For all my life
When you’re with me baby the skies’ll be blue
For all my life…
Imagine an enormous room full of yogis, all singing The Turtles at the top of our lungs! We stopped there, and everyone burst out into laughter and applause.
And that is why I love Linda, City Yoga, and Anusara yoga.
