Jackie and I went to Chicago for three and a half days to visit James.
He was a fabulous host, and he lives in a really great downtown apartment with amazing views.
We ate lots of delicious food, including Alinea (further details to come) and pan-Asian cuisine in Chinatown.
I looked like this most of the time.
But we still enjoyed ourselves walking around the city…
… well, mostly within a few miles of where James lives, accompanied by much hot chocolate. But still.
I am very, very glad I didn’t come here for graduate school. Grad school is hard enough without learning to adjust to snow as well.
On the other hand, if I’d chosen the Chicago program, I would have been done with my MA two years ago.
Chicago is a wonderful city to visit. I’d like to go back again.
There are many more photos I didn’t post in this entry! view the entire photoset here.

it looks so FUN! Once in a while I find myself (heresy!) missing snow and a real winter. Nice photos, too 🙂

Thank you! It really was a lot of fun, and the winter weather made me appreciate the indoors in a way that I really enjoyed. Being out in the snow, wind, or freezing rain made it so much nicer and cozier to come inside and share a warm meal with friends. I found I treasured our meal outings so much more, in part because of the contrast the weather provided.
Where are the food pictors??!
I want to see!!!

Re: Where are the food pictors??!
I want to see too! Jackie and James took all of those, so I’m waiting on their pictures, which might not be until next week. 😦
camera?
hey what kind of camera do you use? eurie
Re: camera?
Hi Eurie! I have an Olympus C-740. I like it a lot, but I’m thinking of getting a new one. This one is somewhat bulky (it’s several years old) and while it takes fabulous photos in good light, it’s really bad in dim light, which is why I haven’t posted pics of our fabulous meal at Alinea — I left the picture-taking to my friends and they haven’t sent them to me yet!
