Forty-five minutes ago I was feeling down in the dumps like you wouldn’t believe, and now I am high on top of the world and my troubles are nothing compared to those of my newly created character for my picture-book homework this week. We had an assignment to create a character or two and present them with a seemingly insurmountable problem (along the lines of those in William Steig’s wonderful books). Well, now I have a character and a most excellent “Steigian” problem involving thimbles. I love it and I love Erik.
