I must still be recovering from Craft Happy, because today I pretty much only got through shipping-related tasks. I can’t believe the week is almost over and I’m still feeling this post-show daze. Augh!
At any rate, I got a PO box today! It was quite easy, nothing at all like Angelina’s experience (though I brought all my business documentation just in case). After the friendly clerk finished checking over the form, he said, “I’ll be right back,” and then disappeared for so long I almost wondered if he’d gone on break. Then he returned and handed me two keys to box #6700. What a nice round number. That box must have been destined for me, because when I first started my shop I wanted to call it The Sixes and Sevens… *cue eerie music* Though I guess really the box number is more accurately described as One Six and One Seven. Hee. Anyway, I’m glad to have a PO box. It was only $6/month, and now I won’t have to put my home address on my mailing list or on packages. I wonder if I should get address labels made…?
I also sent out my very first international order today! I feel like it’s a big milestone, even though at some point I guess sending packages to other countries will become old hat for me (just as printing shipping labels from home is, now). I hope it arrives safely; the Etsy forums are full of international-shipping horror stories! I’d hate my first experience to be a bad one!
I was going to continue yesterday’s shopping entry in this post, but it’s now quite late and I’m getting incoherent, so I’d better leave that for tomorrow or the weekend.
Congrats on your first international sale!! That’s awesome that you got a PO box. I always wonder whether or not I should put my home address on packages, and I usually end up writing just the city, state, and zip with my business name, but it would be a heckuva lot easier to get a PO box…and I totally never would have thought of that. Duh 😉
Thank you! 🙂 Yeah, at first I was thinking of the PO Box just for the newsletter, but then I realized it’d be great on packages too. (But then I don’t know what would happen if the packages got returned to sender, because doesn’t USPS not allow packages to go to PO boxes? I’ll have to look this up.)
