I thought this would be a bad, stressful work day, but it’s been the opposite… thank goodness! Last night was weird. I’d just finished posting yesterday’s lengthy clock-out when our electricity went out. I had to eat a cold, scrounged-up dinner, and ended up falling asleep without brushing my teeth; I woke up in the middle of the night with a twisted, cramping stomach, which persisted into the morning. It’s still unsettled now, though thankfully it’s no longer actually painful. Sigh. It’s sad to be so well versed in the nuances of stomach upset.
Started the day with morning pages and my weekly review, a lot of picking up and tidying from the weekend, and some decoupage prep. Royal purple is surprisingly hard to find in magazines; I had to go through a whole stack of them before I could cut out all the pieces I needed for the inside of my box.
For the rest of the day, I worked on my Valentine’s Day card and some pictures for the website overhaul. And I actually kind of remembered to take breaks! It’s been a long computer session, so I’m going to power off now and spend the rest of the evening doing something else (maybe decoupaging), but I’m finally getting familiar with Inkscape and Photoshop — at least enough for my purposes. I’m really, really happy with what I made today. I’ll leave you with these images, which I hope to use on satsumabug.com when I get it set up.

oooh! i’ve been a big fan of photoshop ever since i took a random leland class on it when i was in 10th grade (i think your sister was in the class too? or maybe it was just olivia and jong-ling, i forget)
i’m really sad i can only read and comment on this post because i don’t have internet at my new place right now 😦 so i’m sketchily sitting in the la salsa in mountain view with a very limited connection to googlewifi 😦 at least i got a little fix! ;P by the time i actually have internet again there will be a whole cache of your posts to read! yippee!!!
I love it too, but I’m still just scratching the surface of its features, even after years of using it! Can’t wait to get better at it. 🙂 I don’t remember Shra ever being in a Photoshop class, but then, I was in a web design class at Leland too and I have only the vaguest memories of that. ;b

I’m sorry you had stomach problems last night, but I’m glad you’re feeling better! Your flowers are gorgeous 😀 I’ve actually never heard of Inkscape, so I’m going to have to Google it when I’m finished. Illustrator is one of my all-time favorite programs, and I use it for most of my graphic design work (in combo with Photoshop). Have fun with your digital adventures!
I’m going to respond to your email in greater length soon, but I had to say one thing about your amazing suitcase display idea before I forget. We stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast over Christmas, and the owner had made a bedside table out of a suitcase, and I couldn’t stop talking about it the whole time. So clever! I can’t wait to see what you do with your booth 🙂
Yeah, my stomach woes are an ongoing saga… I got thoroughly checked out last spring, and there’s nothing serious (thank goodness!), so I think I’ve just got IBS or something. In other words, as my general doctor says, “that’s basically what we call it when we don’t know what the problem is.”
I believe Inkscape is a free version of Illustrator! One of my friends has a friend who helped build it, and Erik found it for me when I needed to vectorize my logo.
Was the suitcase table anything like this?
