Beautiful day today! Bright, sunny, just a little bit warm during the day and rather chilly in the evening. And the house is full of crunchy homemade red-bean and apple-filled manju 🙂
Spent the morning pleasantly and lazily, eating leftover Mexican food from Picante, and then making the manju. In the afternoon I finished sewing the napkins and a couple more handles for the quilt-squares bags, then Jinny and Hung dropped by and destashed two huge bags of Jinny’s fabrics and trims. Eeeee!!! I sat down with the materials after they left and squee-ed over some really beautiful printed linens and the tons of trims. My trims stash is pitiful, so I’m very excited about this.
Um, I think that’s all I did today. We went to Bridges in the evening and I enjoyed a mellow vinyasa class, and then we had dinner at 168 Restaurant. And now I’m powering down the computer again. Erik and I have re-instituted our 9PM twobugs wind-down and I really appreciate having that quiet time at the end of each day to just be together and relax.
Here’s the partial self-portrait I did a couple of days ago:
Oh, one more thing: I had this amazing idea, while making the napkins, to do some kind of visual depiction of what it would look like if you could enter the chambers of my mind — and then to contrast this with what the insides of other people’s minds might look like. I was ironing and then suddenly an image and a sensation popped into my mind of a dream I had months ago, and I was taken aback to realize that this fleeting subconscious world had remained somewhere in my head. That’s when I started thinking that if you were to explore the inside of my mind you might find it expansive and wild and interesting… and that Erik’s might be more methodical, but filled with music. And flitting in and out of all our imaginary landscapes would also be memories and emotions… I don’t know how I would depict this, but I think it would be fabulous to do so. Sometimes I think that in a parallel life I would have made a really good art-house filmmaker.
