FabMo day

Long day today. Woke up lateish but not as late as the rest of this week. Morning pages. Uploaded sketches from last night (see previous entry). Quick experiments with fabric beads and yo-yos with FabMo fabrics before heading off to help sort at FabMo in Palo Alto. That was fun — I don’t think I’ll even bother going to regular distributions after this, but will just sort. It’s a good way to meet other crafters, and to help out, and of course to get first dibs at a lot of truly beautiful fabrics. I ended up not getting as many rug fabrics as I’d expected (though I did get some, and have already cut them into strips), but managed to get a lot more heavy brocades and lightweight cotton, silk, and polyester blends.

I stayed a bit later at FabMo than I was signed up for, and got lost getting out of Palo Alto, so I wasn’t able to get to Oakland in time to drop off my application at the BOE. I’m going to try to do that early tomorrow morning before Kimber’s class instead — but we’ll see how that goes. I got stuck in the start of rush hour traffic on the way and it ended up taking me two hours to get home; I was so hungry by the time I got here, I dragged Erik out to Hometown Buffet almost as soon as I got in the door. After I got home, I clipped tags off all the FabMo fabrics and sorted them, cut the ones intended for rugs into strips, and then cleaned the kitchen in preparation to make chocolate mousse for our monthly dinner with Bright and Caroline.

I had hoped not to spend my entire day out at the FabMo thing but I can’t really say it was a wasted day. But I am rather tired, I have lots of catch-up to do, and tomorrow will be another busy day.
