Weekend clock-out

Not much to clock-out about for the weekend.

I had hoped to get some work done on Friday before our friends came, but I was only barely able to write morning pages (as it was, I didn’t clear three pages); the rest of the day I spent in yoga, cleaning, and baking. I did begin cutting some more decoupage scraps while we played Balderdash, however.

Yesterday (Saturday) morning, I awoke before everyone, and completed morning pages before going out to buy fresh señorita bread and cat food. In the late morning, I was able to finish cutting up three magazines. We were out during the middle of the day (including an hour at Bridges, where Emily and Damian admired my chalk bag), and when we returned, the others retired to the guest room to read, and I had a little time to myself in the office. I sewed the spots from our Al’s-birthday-party frog costumes into little flowers (complete with beaded centers), then trimmed wallpaper pieces for the eye-pillow pillow boxes, and made one box out of plain brown cardstock for the non-FabMo eye pillows. Now, as soon as I am able to spray-glue the wallpapers to the cardstock, I’ll be ready to make the FabMo eye pillow boxes.

I haven’t heard from the FabMo people, though, so I hope word will come soon about whether I’m accepted for the show.

We had a good book-club discussion over homemade (well, with Trader Joe’s dough) pizza that evening. Confederates in the Attic was a good pick — a very good switch from American Splendor — and I thought to ask everyone what they thought the book was about, which proved a fun question. It turns out I think the book is about how complicated everything and everyone is, and how hard it is to make generalizations or easy judgments.

Today, the only work I did was scanning some family photos and discovering (through a set of books at Moe’s in Berkeley) the wonderful pattern library at the Victoria & Albert Images site. Erik and I took a much-needed nap in the mid-afternoon, and we think this gave us some heat sickness because we were under the covers during the hottest part of the day. We’re both woozy and out of it now, though dinner helped.

All in all, it was a very lovely weekend with much-beloved friends, and we’re so glad we had it. But now I am equally eager to get back to work this week.
