Hot day

Morning pages, thoughtful journal entry, then a morning of singing practice and errand-running. It turned out that Williams Natural Grocery didn’t have what I needed at low enough prices for my eye pillow fill, so I ended up ordering online from this site instead — hope the stuff is good. Shipping should be fast at any rate, as it’s coming from Watsonville. Read some L’Engle over lunch.

That’s all the work I got done for today. In the afternoon I made cucumber pickles, cold spinach, and peanut sauce for Shra’s engagement party tomorrow, and fielded an email from Shra herself — with gaming in between, of course, since it was hot and I lacked initiative to do anything else. It’s a stressful time. Erik and I are leaving probably in about 10-15 minutes for San Jose, to avoid having to make the drive tomorrow morning, and we’ll be there until late Sunday (on Sunday Erik will help his parents finish up their moving).

Arrghhhh I am SO TIRED of going back and forth between here and San Jose! I’m not going to apologize for saying that. I hate losing weekend after weekend to road time, I’m sick of having to figure out what to do before I leave each time and what I have to bring, I’m angry I have to lose work time every weekend because there is stuff I can’t bring with me and I don’t get any solitude in my parents’ house. After this I am hoping we will not need to return to San Jose until Daddo’s birthday in November. I’d love the parents to visit me, but I do not want to go back there for as long as possible. I want my weekends back.
