Colonoscopy prep day

7:04 AM – Sigh. I kind of wanted to sleep in today, to make the day as short as possible, but I guess that’s not happening.
8:00 – Hot broth and tea with honey. This is a surprisingly yummy “breakfast”.
8:30 – Not too hungry yet. Strangely enough, I’m thirsty. Must be the broth. I’m keeping myself busy cutting scraps for collaging. I think keeping busy is going to be the key to getting through the day!
9:00 – Okay, now I am hungry. Raaaa!!! My stomach feels so empty! 😦
10:09 – We’re about to leave for San Jose. I’ve just remembered I can have hard candy, so I’m sucking on a pineapple sweet from Trader Joe’s. I’m not so empty-feeling now, after about 32 ounces of broth and tea, so maybe that’s what it takes to make me feel full-ish.
12:00 – Not fun watching the family eat a big brunch of omelettes, pancakes, sausage, and strawberries. 😦 I tried some Pedialyte and it was gross — wonder if that’s what the MoviPrep will taste like later? If so, I can handle it.
2:30 – After 24 more ounces of Gatorade, I’m not feeling too hungry anymore.
3:55 – We’ve finished Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I just mixed up tonight’s dose of MoviPrep. Smelled nasty coming out of the packets, but okay after mixed. Bleh. Not looking forward to 5:00.
6:00 – Ugh, I’ve finished drinking all the MoviPrep. It didn’t taste good, but it wasn’t bad. The hardest part was drinking an entire liter of it. Now to wait.
6:15ish – Here we go. Rats, I want to finish watching Love Actually!
7:18 – First break I’ve had since things got going! It’s not uncomfortable actually, but as one person on one message board I read said: you have to be “committed to the toilet”. Not sure whether I’m done yet for tonight. We’ll see.
11:13 – Still not empty yet, but getting there. Either I am totally befuddled by lack of food, or else my skin is looking and feeling remarkably well. Could it be the crazy level of hydration? Under normal circumstances my hands get dry very easily and my lips chap. I try to drink lots of water, but when I do, I have to pee every fifteen minutes or so. Today I’ve had way more water than usual, but I’ve not had to pee very much at all. Maybe what I should be doing (normally) is eating much less and drinking much more. Maybe when I’m back to my usual self, I will give it a shot: 32 ounces of water an hour before mealtimes?
Skin benefits aside, this whole regimen has been considerably more painless than I imagined. We’ll see how things go tomorrow.
