Yesterday, after a good hard yoga class and a big lunch of dumplings, all I did was decoupage. I cut out images from magazine pages, tore out more magazine pages, sorted all the new clippings, Mod Podged another coat onto my journal (which I think is done now), and finished pasting clippings onto a red-themed box lid (but it needs more coats, or else some sealer). I think I was doing this for about four hours, with breaks. Whew! Discoveries from decoupage day:
- Scissors-using, even with my ergonomic pair, is very hard on the hands.
- Chopping up pages solely or even partially with my paper cutter is much easier.
- Using the paper cutter makes my neck and shoulders really tired.
- I don’t want to use sealer because I’m afraid it’s toxic, but I think it might be necessary. The Mod Podge is a little sticky otherwise.
- I reorganized my wallpapers and my clippings, using the wooden box I bought at a yard sale a couple of weekends ago. Yay synchronicity! It’s the perfect size.
All this was quite fun, and I even kept on cutting clippings until past bedtime. I fear I am becoming slightly obsessed with it.
