A business concept sure to fail

Last night I dreamed I went to a “mouse restaurant”. The waiters explained that they didn’t sweep the floors, and they wiped the tables “only casually”, so that little trained mice could come pick up the crumbs while we were eating. The only thing was, every now and then rats would come instead, and then they’d have to be shooed away.

In the dream the mouse restaurant was very entertaining and delightful. The place had an old-fashioned vibe, all walnut wood and stained glass — much like the old ice cream parlor at Oakridge Mall, Swensen’s — and the mice were adorable. They had long graceful curving tails, and they looked shiny and clean.

It wasn’t until I woke up that I realized what a terrible idea a mouse restaurant is.
