I woke up in the middle of the night with a great new idea for my Valentine’s Day card. Instead of making it just a portrait of me, which it’s so often been, how about a more action-oriented, dialogue-driven, full-body cover? I could draw myself twice, once as the Crusader for Love, and a second time as representing Fear. Then I can have them both facing off, which is a good metaphor for what I’ve been doing this past year, and poking at each other both physically and in dialogue.
Crusader: You’ll never conquer me!
Fear: Hah! Watch me!
I’m very excited about this, but it’s going to take a bit more work because now I’ll have to draw two self-portraits, and also two bodies that look like me and look like proportional people besides. I’d better get started soon, because if this idea doesn’t work out, I’ll still have to do the portrait and as I figured out earlier, that’ll take at least two days (if things go well). I only have six more days so… gotta get crackin’!
