Yoga!

I went to yoga class today for the first time in more than a month. I’ve been practicing a little bit on my own, and doing cardio and strength exercises, but it still felt absolutely fabulous to get back with the community and move together for an hour and a half.

In yoga, they say that your front body represents yourself, and the back body represents community or other people. So you want to find a balance between the two, not focusing exclusively on either. While I’ve been so happy in recent weeks to find that I can keep up a balanced, enjoyable exercise regimen on my own, today was my reminder that it’s just as joyous and comforting to tap into communal energy and the freedom that brings.

Also… we focused on hips today, and there is no way I would have done that many hip openers on my own… so there’s that. 😉
