Being tired and hot I will for now only write a very short description of our Maui vacation.
Beaches I can’t believe they’re actually as pretty as the postcards
Sunburn so many of my days in ‘paradise’ spent in a long sleeved shirt
Bug bites they love me here, they loved me in Maui, so in addition to a long sleeved shirt I had to wear pants to cover the big red welt looking things
Fruit I miss it – papayas pineapples mangoes bananas – even though passionfruits and guavas were disappointing
Humidity ugh muggy sweaty sticky
Haleakala volcano wow dusty too bad we missed the rainforesty part Maui certainly isn’t just beaches
Birds are interesting
People in Maui are weird, either scarily nice and friendly or completely indifferent or somewhat hostile go away
I miss Berkeley
Maui is completely not veggie friendly
Stores and restaurants don’t they have anything not geared toward tourists?
Inferiority complex+frustration all these skinny tan sexy girls in bikinis where do they all come from go away go away and stop making me feel so big
Repulsion all these ten year old girls with baby fat in bikinis where do they all come from go away and put some clothes on
Good to be home. Maui was different, interesting, beautiful and fun. I can see why people love it so much. But it was also unfamiliar and often frustrating. I wish I could gush more and make fewer negative comments, but it’s hard for me to get too enthusiastic about the scenery (which was indeed gorgeous) because almost everywhere I went I felt uncomfortable and touristy.
All in all I’m glad I went but I prefer San Jose. Not everything was great, but I did like it. But now that I’m back, I can’t say I was miserable about leaving. And all things considered…
I much prefer Berkeley.
As soon as I get our 865 (yes, 865–I like digital cameras!) photos resized and cropped I will try and post some here.
