I didn’t get very much sleep last night so I’m really tired today (and about to go to bed), but I had a very nice day today anyway! I felt like wearing a skirt so I did, I got to my first class and found out I’d actually finished all the reading for today, my second class got cancelled so I had the chance to do a little more reading, I ran into Huy on my way to Avant-Card to get materials for the upcoming birthdays of several friends (6, 7 and 8 March!) and had a nice chat with him (Huy is absolutely one of the nicest people I know), ran into Brian on my way to meet Jennifer for dinner and passed a pleasant few minutes talking to him while sitting on the grass in Memorial Glade and watching people play frisbee as the sun began to set, and went to dinner with Jennifer!
Dinner was really nice. We went to Café Tibet because I haven’t been there in a while, it’s good, and it was early enough that it wouldn’t be crowded (although it turns out Monday just isn’t a busy day for eating out… I hadn’t talked to Jennifer in such a long time, it was really nice to just sit and catch up. I had a really lovely time. Hopefully this will become a more regular thing! If there’s anything I learned from last semester, socially speaking, it’s the vital importance of having some regular social arrangements to look forward to all week. My Friday nights and my after-French breakfasts kept me sane and happy all last semester, but they’ve become somewhat disrupted this semester purely for scheduling reasons, so it’d be nice to have something else to provide that regularity.
And Jackie called me after that and we had a very nice talk! I wish we were closer geographically, but isn’t it wonderful that we’re just a phone call away?
I love my friends and my family. For some reason I’m in one of those phases where personal connections are very important to me, so I’m extra glad to have such a supportive, interesting and available group of people around me. 🙂
