i just had a wonderful dinner with mommy and shra at la méditerranée! it took quite a bit of cajoling to get mommy to take us to dinner, because she wanted to go home right away, but she finally agreed and we went and it was lovely. the food and the décor are very unique and well put together. i’ll definitely be going there again. the price is right, too.
it’s funny because last time we were at café tibet margaret told erik and me about her trip to la méditerranée and how good the pomegranate chicken was. this time mommy got the pomegranate chicken and on our way back to my apartment, i saw margaret waiting at a crosswalk with a friend! coincidences abound.
not long after that we were driving past people’s park and a little grey-and-white cat darted out from behind a car. we screeched to a stop, the cat ran off unharmed, and our heart rates slowly returned to normal. poor kitty. with judgement like that it’s bound to get run over sometime. i’ll cross my fingers for it!
more utterly depressing news: the san jose symphony has shut down for the season! they’d been having financial troubles for a while but apparently they were really on their last legs. mommy and gong-gong and i arrived at the center for performing arts last night all ready to hear some debussy but everything was dark and there were small signs saying that the performance had been cancelled. perplexed, we called the symphony and heard the chilling and further perplexing news that all the concerts for october, november and december have been cancelled. i was in such despair afterward; seeing an entire symphony (123 years old, no less!) close down is just so painful to me. the symphony feels so close to my personal sensibilities that i just can’t stand to see it go. i really hope someone manages to save it. if i felt that my measly contribution would do any good, i would send them some money, but if they’ve had to cancel the season i don’t think even $two thousand, much less $twenty, would bring salvation. maybe even $two million wouldn’t be enough. i worry.
for tonight, though, i’m happy. yummy food and good company is always such a winning combination!
