cake, anyone?

i just came from berkeley’s first annual guinness and oyster festival, which was fun — weirdos all over the place, everyone holding overflowing cups of guinness (not me, don’t worry mommy :>), everyone spilling guinness and a dog walking by who sniffed it and decided it wasn’t interesting enough for further investigation, lots of yummy smelling food (they ran out of ‘key lime calamari’, too bad), and really great music.

i knew there was a guinness festival because i’d read this article in the daily cal, but i didn’t read it carefully enough to realize it was today. so off i went to the farmer’s market this afternoon in search of essentials (namely romaine and avocados). on the way i ran into paymon, who informed me that he and his friends were going to ‘the oyster festival.’ when i found out it was in the park right next to the farmer’s market, i was intrigued, so i thought i’d check it out. i picked up my food and lamented that i wasn’t there for full-scale shopping, because the market really pulled out all the stops today. they had an olive stand, huge amounts of delicious-looking tarts (i can make them now hahaha), several stands with yummy-smelling hot food… they had a lot more stuff than usual. next week hopefully they’ll still have all this good stuff and i’ll have a little more money and feel more like food and cooking. anyway, i detoured into the park for the festival and thought it looked like fun. i looked at their schedule and found that cake (the band) was playing at 4.30pm so i thought i’d come back then, hopefully with one or more companions, since this kind of thing just isn’t as fun alone (at least in my opinion).

around four i was despairing of finding anyone to come with me to hear cake. then albert very kindly said he’d come with me! 😀 so we went and it was fun and i’m glad i decided to go and found someone to go with. 😀
