Friends

it feels good to have something of a social life. after french today i went for ‘breakfast’ again with mary and dana. we went to the musical offering; i had a slice of cornbread, which they called ‘corn cake’ and which actually contained real corn, not just cornmeal! dana had a croissant. we’d just been learning in french class about how to ask people what they like to eat and how to offer food or how to accept or refuse it, so we had a lot of fun playing around with that while we were eating. we stayed in the café for about an hour and a half and had a fantastic time talking and laughing very loudly (i’m sure we contrasted sharply with the sedate classical music playing in the background — handel’s ‘harmonious blacksmith,’ at one point).

after that fun event, i only had half an hour left before another ‘appointment’ so i went to the library (to, of course, my favorite room) and did my french homework. when i finished that, it was eleven, so i went to the front of the library to meet erik and jennifer. we went and had pho for lunch and enjoyed it very much. 🙂

i also very much enjoyed history lecture today. i think professor nylan will be every bit as inspiring as she seemed on the first day, and i like my gsi too.
