I HAVE INTERNET AGAIN! ๐ (and it’s fast, too!)
now i can really start talking again! ๐
i’ve been having a good day. this morning i ran into shane, my french teacher, on the way to class, so we walked together and i found out about how a guy from dublin speaks perfect french. (his mother is a french teacher and he has gone to school in and out of france since he was three.)
while i was in french, my mind wandered to my favorite subject — food! i was trying to decide what i wanted for lunch, and decided on a day like this (overcast and sprinkly), i wanted soup. specifically, i wanted a cream soup. then i realized that cream soup would be a perfect way for me to eat my broccoli, so i stopped at a food market on the way home and bought a quart of milk and two cans of campbell’s cream of mushroom soup. i’m very proud of the way my soup turned out. i chopped broccoli, purple onions and garlic and added them to the soup, and i used milk instead of water with the condensed mushroom soup. when i put the soup in a bowl, i put a slice of farmer’s cheese on top so it would melt into the soup. along with a salad, my soup made an excellent lunch. ๐
after lunch the cable guy came and installed my internet! i tested the speed at cnet and found that it is quite fast. ๐
unfortunately i didn’t have a chance to play with my internet because i had to go to shakespeare class. that wasn’t tremendously exciting, i’m sorry to say, though i did learn something interesting. i had been thinking that my professor was really picky and strict because she started class on the hour instead of on the usual ‘berkeley time.’ berkeley time means that classes start ten minutes after their listed time so that students who schedule classes back-to-back have time to get from one class to another; so a class that was listed as 10-11 would actually be 10.10-11. nice system. lets you be late. (of course, if you really do have a class right before that, sometimes you’re late even after the allotted ten minutes, depending on where your two classes are.) well, as it turns out, prof koory didn’t know about berkeley time — i wonder how long she has been here! — so she wasn’t just being annoyingly picky, she just didn’t know. she apologized quite nicely.
after shakespeare i went to reprint mint to look at posters. i always look forward to a trip to reprint mint. they have lots and lots of posters that i like — not just silly boy band fan things or cult movie advertisements — so i always spend lots of time there just exploring. i narrowed down my choices for a long time until i finally decided on two, one for above my desk and one for the kitchen. i was actually going to buy the above-desk one for someone else, but realized that person has no place to put it and it doesn’t match the dรฉcor of that person’s house. (i’m not naming the person because that’s kind of rude, isn’t it? i was going to buy you a gift but i didn’t? and the person does read this journal!) so i bought it for myself ๐ because i also fell in love with it and that person can see it at my place anytime. for my kitchen i bought a poster i’ve been wanting for years, ever since i saw it in a catalog. it’s been at reprint mint for a while, actually, i think, except that it’s not too cheap so i always talked myself out of it. this time i figured, i’d better just go for it, so i did. and now i’m very very happy. ๐
anyway, time to go cook dinner. nothing special, it’s just going to be the leftover yummysoup and some other stuff. i’ve had such a craving for french bread all day today but they don’t sell it anywhere around here — not that i haven’t looked! *sigh*
it’s good to be back online.
