Video: Staceyann Chin

I was going to do an Open Mic today, but after last night’s VONA faculty reading there was no way I could not share this. If you don’t have time to watch all 15 minutes (you won’t be sorry), start at 10:00 to watch the poem that had us all standing in our seats with tears in our eyes and fire in our hearts.

NOT safe for work, not safe for ears that would rather not hear the f-word or the v-word.

  1. My tears are still falling as I hear Staceyann Chin’s words still ringing in my brain. I’ve heard no truer words and she makes me want to try harder to change the world. I still feel very small, but I think of us all, and I vow to keep trying. Thank you for sharing this with us.

It’s been in my head since the reading, too. I actually put it on my vision board on Friday with a small addition: “What happened to me was not my fault. But I chose to pick up the pen.”

What do you think?
